Susan E Wiesner

Founder

Ms. Wiesner believes her background and interest in international affairs, and her personal choices in life to be a single mother of two, have led her to find an intellectual, emotional and spiritual pinnacle through her client work. Ms. Wiesner’s global outlook is seen in her education at the London School of Economics & Political Science, Creighton University School of Law, and Oxford University, her volunteer work and her family life. Yet, Ms. Wiesner stays grounded by focusing on the reward of helping people. In her professional career, Ms. Wiesner was fortunate to practice law with mentors such as Sorrell Trope, where she was an associate attorney until 2000 before she started her own firm.

Ms. Wiesner has donated hundreds of hours and resources to the Harriett Buhai Center for Family Law, which provides family law and domestic violence assistance to low-income families in Los Angeles through the efforts of volunteer lawyers, paralegals and students, where she recently taught a class for the Center on the basic aspects of Family Law. The class was designed to instruct volunteers on how to assist the Center’s low-income clients. As part of Ms. Wiesner’s way of giving back, she takes on a pro bono client every year.

Ms. Wiesner  is proud to sit on the Board of Directors for the Silverlake Conservatory of Music, a non-profit organization founded to fill a void in the cultural landscape of our community.  The Conservatory offers adults and children the opportunity to study music with exceptional and dedicated teachers, at a reasonable cost, and also grants scholarships to provide free lessons and instruments to deserving children in the community.

Ms. Wiesner earned her Masters of Law from the London School of Economics & Political Science in 1989 and her J.D. from Creighton University School of Law in 1987. She studied abroad at Oxford University in London, England, while she was earning her B.A. from Creighton University. Ms. Wiesner was admitted to the California State Bar in 1991 to the U.S. District Court Central, Northern, Southern and Eastern Districts; and to the U.S. Court of Appeals, Eighth and Ninth Circuits; and U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. In 1987, she was admitted to the Nebraska State Bar and U.S. District Court, District of Nebraska. In 2008, Ms. Wiesner was awarded the Wiley W. Manuel Award for Pro Bono Legal Services by The Board of Governors of the State Bar of California. Ms. Wiesner is a member of the Association of Trial Lawyers of America, the Los Angeles County and Beverly Hills Bar Associations, the Los Angeles World Affairs Council and the Beverly Hills Women’s Club.
